Bring your babies, toddlers and young children to the Valley Park Community Library and sign up for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program!
What is the program?
The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading challenge to encourage early literacy exposure and help foster a lifelong love of reading. Prizes are given for every 100 books you read with your child.
Who should sign up?
Anyone with babies, toddlers or young children who have not entered kindergarten are eligible to sign up.
If you read just one book a day you will have completed the program in 3 years.
How do we sign up?
Stop by the library to sign up and pick up your 1000 Books Before Kindergarten kit!
Who can read with my child?
Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, anyone who reads with your child counts! You can even count books read at story time!
Does each book have to be unique?
Absolutely not! All kids have favorite books that have to be read over and over again. Repetition is an important part of learning to read so feel free to count those favorites as many times as you read them.
If you’re interested in the program but can’t make it to the library for a few days, submit the contact form below and materials will be saved for when you arrive!
